As I’m sure you know, there are tons of dance fitness channels on YouTube. We’ve reviewed some of the longer videos from channels like Popsugar Fitness and Fit Body By Ashley, but did you know that there are also beginner-friendly channels that post choreography to specific songs?
From Zumba style to no-holds-barred hip-hop dancing, here are a few channels whose videos are just the length of one song, usually 3 to 5 minutes long. It would take me ages to review each and every song, so I thought it would be better to post a list of the channels, instead!
Ones I’m most familiar with:
Dance Fitness with Jessica (hip-hop, pop, calisthenics)
I’ve reviewed some of Jessica’s other videos, since she has posted some HIIT and some strength toning workouts as well as well as dance videos. Her dance videos are just as intense as any of her other videos! She has a sort of Zumba style, where each song has a pattern that repeats. Some of them target specific parts of the body with Pilates moves, squats, or other common toning moves, while others are more dance oriented. Most of her videos are live streams of her studio class, and a lot of the participants seem to already know what to do, so there isn’t a whole lot of explaining. The moves are fast and sometimes it takes a second to pick up. It can be a little intimidating, but it’s a lot of fun, and, in my opinion, a better workout than many other dance workouts I’ve done.
Fit Body by Ashley (hip-hop, Caribbean, Latin dance)
You might already know Fit Body by Ashley through my reviews of her longer dance workouts, but she also has videos featuring just one song. Some of them focus on a specific part of the body (and some of these I have reviewed), while others are simple choreography to popular songs. Generally each song has a pattern that’s repeated throughout the course of the song. Her dance moves are fairly easy and not super intense, so if you’re a beginner to dance or not very good at dancing, her channel is a great place to start. If you’ve done any of her longer workouts then you know what you’re in for: lots of fun, super easy to follow dance moves, and great music.
The Fitness Marshall (hip-hop, pop)
I absolutely adore The Fitness Marshall. He posts dances choreographed to popular songs that are mostly easy to follow, and they are all wonderfully choreographed and full of humor. Every time I do his videos, I have an awesome time, and get an amazing workout. He usually has two rotating playlists a Full Sweat Set, which is about 45 minutes, and a Quick Set, which is about 25-30 minutes. His style is a little more advanced, but he breaks it down for you slowly at first, and then picks up speed. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up, but I usually don’t mind because I’m having so much fun. Besides, most videos have one of his background dancers doing an easier version of the dance, so anyone can follow along. The more you do them, the better you’ll get at dancing! Or so I hope. I keep trying with that goal in mind.
Ones I’ve found but haven’t tried yet:
I’ll add more as I find them, and add more details as I try more videos. In the meantime, check out these great channels if you want to get your dance on!
