I really like this shoulder routine! I’m not super partial to lifting weights, but doing it to a beat is a lot more fun! The song is “Hollaback Girl”, a classic 2000’s song from my teenage years, so it got me pretty pumped.

Weights are kind of optional for this workout, but highly recommended. Rather than getting a shoulder workout, you’ll just kind of warm up, which is fine if that’s what you want. But if you want a good workout, use some weights, or even some unopened cans or full water bottles.

The dance does move at a pretty quick pace, so you really will want to use light weights (I used three pound weights). There’s also no explanation of form, so make sure you know how to use weights before you do this workout (that’s why I labeled it intermediate).

There is a decent variety of moves in this workout, but they repeat often enough that your whole upper body will get a great workout; not just your shoulders, but your triceps and back, too. It’s definitely a unique–and super fun–way to work the upper body!
