SELF is generally a fitness lifestyle e-magazine, but every now and then they create a month-long fitness challenge, and they’re absolutely brutal. This video, however, is not quite as intense as others in the Stronger with SELF challenge, owing to the fact that its focus is on strength training rather than cardio.
That being said, this isn’t a workout to be taken lightly. Though I didn’t feel like dying afterwards, unlike the cardio routines in this challenge, I was still destroyed by it. It’s not easy, and it’s long! If you are a beginner then I recommend doing just two rounds and skipping the last round, going straight to the cooldown.
Strangely, though, I was only sore in my hamstrings after doing this workout. Go figure!
It’s not a workout that pulls any punches, but it’s a fantastic, total-body workout nonetheless. I only wish that the hosts would give more explanation about form, since the moves are pretty intense.
