This is a decent ab workout that also puts some work into the arms and back. I opted not to use weights at the time, and I think I would have felt it a lot more if I had. However, I’m glad I didn’t, because all of that twisting really killed my lower back, even without weights. I felt it for the rest of the day and two days after, so I think I might have even pulled the muscle.
I don’t want to discourage you from doing this video, but I do want to caution you. I didn’t feel my back muscles burning or working hard, but I still had significant pain afterwards, so I recommend you really take care when twisting; don’t twist too hard, and keep the core tight as you do it. Use extra caution if using weights.
I love Keaira’s workouts, and I did enjoy this one while I was doing it. It was a unique ab workout, the hip hop beat was awesome to workout to, and Keaira is so inspiring and fun to workout with. I only wish she’d given some kind of instruction on how to avoid back pain with this particular workout.
In short, don’t skip this video, because it’s a nice workout; just make sure you do it carefully!
